Fun Lincoln Facts
Nov. 20th, 2008 09:44 pmBy coincidence, the Indian Head Cent was introduced in 1859, Lincoln's semicentennial.
The Lincoln Cent replaced the Indian Head Cent in Lincoln's centennial, 1909.
The Lincoln Memorial replaced the wheat stalks on the reverse (back) of the cent in 1959, Lincoln's sesquicentennial.
I wonder what if any change they will make in Lincoln's bicentennial next year.
Obama, who is extraordinarily conscious of Lincoln in so many ways, who does a convincing job of channeling Lincoln's seriousness of purpose, magnanimity, conniving forethought, and rhetorical style, will take office just 24 days before the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.
