I actually really want to post long stuff about myself, for a change, but so much of my mental energy is going to the mostly good stuff I want to post about, that I haven't gotten to it. Some of that good stuff is writing, so I'm about to post long stuff that isn't about me. But I still want to share with y'all more of what's going on with me than I do at other places I post.

The school year ends tomorrow. I will be very busy nonetheless, but perhaps less pressured. Maybe I'll fill you all in on Sunday.

You’ve got to learn to misspell it properly: "ya'll"

Now, you do realize that "y'all" is singular? The plural form is "all y'all." ;)

You as well need to learn how to misspell it correctly.

This is a country vs city thing. In the city it's two words: you all. The deeper you go into the country the more the two words get slurred togeher.

Or um, something like that.

No, no, no, it’s about the misspelling; it is necessary to put the apostrophe in the wrong place, where it makes no sense whatsoever. Otherwise the authenticity is lost.

Oh, I looked and the Urban Dictionary has some cock and bull story by a comedy writer.

Bah. You've got enough southern roots so I won't assume you simply heard that somehwere, but from what I've overheard it's not generally true.

Well, all right: in my personal experience, "y'all" is most often used as plural, but I have heard people sometimes use it in the singular case as well. "All y'all" can be used for emphasis, as a broader plural. Perhaps "y'all" is to "all y'all" as microbeat is to macrobeat.
