Western Hemisphere Made Redundant

The fabled and until now fictional Northwest Passage has opened up. It is no longer necessary for Europeans to explore North America or build the Panama Canal.

So, the way I see it, those of us with Old World ancestry living in the Americas have now created enough carbon dioxide to fulfill our purpose and may now be scheduled for removal by the chrononauts.

At last! It's finally possible to travel between Europe and Asia!

Some outfit recently likened the coming destruction to that of a nuclear war. I imagine (but have not verified) they mean a full thermonuclear exchange. It’s not an analogy I thought of; what I tell people is that, no, Iraq is not the most pressing issue we face, climate change is. I figure that not too many years from now I’ll be able to say ‘I told you so’.

Actually the difference in pressingness is more in quality than quantity. Both should be and aren’t being fully addressed.
