By most sane definitions, I'm straight. I'm capable of being attracted to men, but it's not what really works for me. IN the late 80s and early 90s, I publicly identified as bisexual, because I thought it an important to fight prejudice. After working for so many groups I wasn't a part of, it seemed fitting to own the extent to which I do belong to one group that needed representing. Eventually, that got old (though I still identify as bi, depending on the implicit definition in any given circumstance). It felt like the largest part of the battle had been won, and like the rest would take more passage of time than active effort.
In the last few years, I've been talking about how my values don't come from religion, even in venues where that's taken to be very unusual. I guess my instinct for what needed doing was on target.
Anyway, the poll gives part of the reason I think it's fairly likely that Huckabee will come from nowhere to win the Republican nomination.
