I am looking for a business partner. I am designing a web-based baseball-related game with a proven market, limited competition, and room to expand the market. The closest competitor seems to take in at least $200,000 per year and perhaps a few times that. Development should be done in under three months. Post-development labor requirements will be quite limited, but for the initial period, I'm looking for someone who can participate full time. I want a partner in large part because, while I have been successful managing projects of which I am a part, I do not have the personality to manage a project of which I am the only part.

There are several areas of expertise that would be helpful, but there is no single area that I could not do myself, albeit more slowly than someone with more specific experience. The absolute requirements are
  • the ability to learn new things quickly and to ask good questions about them.
  • the ability to explain your own plans and to answer good questions about them.
  • sufficient interest in the project so that those two abilities will naturally be put to good use.
Helpful areas of expertise would include
  • computer programming (We'll probably be using Python, a web framework, and some SQL.)
  • baseball rules and strategic options (I have this one covered well, but the more the merrier.)
  • project management
  • probabilistic modeling (This probably falls to me, but if you know what multivariate logit means, or better yet, structured equation modeling, it could be yours.)
  • sabermetrics (Probably mine, but again, the more the merrier.)
  • web design
  • marketing on the web, including crowdfunding
  • small business management
Ongoing costs other than labor and advertising should be under $10,000 per year. Once the first version of the game is in operation, there will be opportunities to develop related games, but other than that, maintaining the game will require less than ten hours work per week, most of which need not be during business hours. I hope we'll be successful enough that we decide episodes of new development will be worthwhile. If not, there should be continued income for little continued time. A merger with a competitor is also conceivable, hopefully with us buying them out rather than the other way around.
