Cadence in Writing
Nov. 13th, 2005 01:51 pmI enjoy what I'll call the English of Cadence -- paragraphs whose meaning is elucidated by the way the words are spoken in the author's and readers' heads. I've found that mostly in 19th Century American English, especially Poe, Twain, and Lincoln. I also enjoy reading modern speeches by masters of cadence, such as Cuomo.
