Geography Factoid
Apr. 16th, 2005 09:23 pmI would never have guessed. Of the 10 longest rivers to be in Europe, how many empty into the Atlantic Ocean/North Sea? How many empty into the Mediterranean?
Answers: 0 and 0. They all empty into the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea, the Arctic Ocean (more or less), or the Volga River (which itself is one of the ones that empties into the Black Sea).
The Rhine is the 11th longest, and it empties into the North Sea.
I guess the Vistula, which empties into the Baltic, would be in yet another category. But it didn't make the list on Wikipedia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Europe)
